Insurance, Investment

Yesterday was a learning day for me.

I will like to thank Cik Mustapha for inviting me for the dialogue session on the topic of “Means Testing”, cohosted by Mdm Halimah Yacob, MP for Jurong GRC and Ms Jessica Tan, MP for East Coast GRC under the REACH programme.

It was an enlightening session where we get first hand overview, of what is happening in Singapore. :)

It strengten my passion as a financial associate when I see close correlation between the government efforts and our very own efforts to get the public to have the best medical resources available for them at an affordable rate.

I am very happy with the statistic that 2.8 million Singaporeans have at least Medishield with them.

It is the first line of defense that everyone need.

Another statistic that emboldened my efforts to promote NTUC Income Enhanced Incomeshield is when I discovered that statistics also shows that all Singaporeans above the age of 35 years old will at least be warded in hospital for 1 out of 10 years.

So you see, going to be warded in hospital is almost a guaranteed thing.

You must have at least our Enhanced Incomeshield so that you will never encounter difficulties in the near future.

Mdm Halimah also reiterate that nobody will be deprive of hospitalisation in the event of financial difficulties.

Medifund is always there to assist those who need it most.

I am also pleased that a lot of positive changes are coming our way.

1) 2 new hospitals to be build in Yishun and Jurong.
- Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (Yishun)
- Jurong (Western General Hospital)

2) With the implementation of means testing, more non standard drugs will also enjoy subsidy. (Previously, only standard drugs enjoy subsidy)

3) Newer wards with attached toilets and shower for convenience. (Previously, everyone have to share toilet.)

4) 1 nurse to 5 patients. (Previously, 1 nurse to 6 patients).

5) There wont be a hard and fast rule that the yardstick for working Singaporeans is his or her income level.

…and those who are not working like retiree, housewive, children based on the housing he or she lives.

If, its proven that the person truly have difficulties in coping with the hospitalisation bills, then discretion will be given.

Means Testing is the way to go! :)
