Okay, for you who have been reading my blog, and yet to know me better. this is your chance
I am Helmi Hakim.
I have 3 younger siblings.
I am the eldest.
Since young I was passionately involved with sales.
I have lots of sales experiences.
After my O’Level I joined a local publishing house, VJ Times International, to promote books written by local authors.
I am sure you do remember the time when ghost story books was popular in Singapore.
Yeah…I was with that company.
I did telemarketing, campaigns, and went to schools seeking permission from their HODs to set up a mini booth in their school tuckshop to sell our books.
I was doing well….
I was rewarded with bubble tea for continuously exceeding the company’s target…hahahah
When I look back, I realise its a worthwhile experience. 🙂
While studying for my Diploma In Accountancy in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I begin to develop a strong interest in business and investments.
I was deeply interested in doing business, that I parternered with an acquaintance to set up our very first online employment agency in Singapore known as GatherHR Pte Ltd.
I had a mentor. Her name is Nooraini Nordin, director of Propnex Ltd.
There were a lot of challenges that we faced.
I personally wrote to the principal of Ngee Ann polytechnic to help fund for our entity.
Together with my partner, we develop our business plan.
Due to my background, I was in charge of the proforma financial statements.
We finally get the fundings and our business goes on with the capital of $3000 funded by the school.
Story aside, our business flopped due to many unforeseen circumstances… (hey I know I am giving excuses 😛 )
Yeah… We were immatured, inexperienced at that point of time.
I finally re-strategise and develop my internetmarketingparadise.com which also flops.
After graduation, I worked as an agent for Efusion Solutions, a marketing company promoting credit cards and loan facilities for ABN AMRO Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered and others.
I was with ABN AMRO Bank. hahahaahh…
It was a great experience.
I topped the whole company in terms of sales production. 🙂
Looking back at all my achievements, I realise that it’s not really me that is good.
I became good because of the people around me.
My friends, my families, my colleagues, my mentors, everyone plays a part in developing me to whom I am today.
So for those of you reading this blog, who have put your faith with me, I will like to thank you so much and may the law of reward reciprocate for the deeds you have done.
God’s willing 🙂

In this day, I will like to seek forgiveness from all my families,friends, policy holders, readers of my blog and all…
If I have committed any wrongdoing, please forgive me from the bottom of my heart.
If you feel, my service is not up to your expectation, I assure you that the future will be a better one.
Selamat Hari Raya.
While most of us celebrate Hari Raya, (celebration after 1 month of fasting for Muslims, and public holiday for Non Muslims) , let us think of the needy and how fortunate we are today.
We live in Singapore, a peaceful country with good governance and free from corruption.
Think of those people in Myanmar suffering under military dictatorship.
Think of those innocent child in Iraq, in Palestine, in Afghanistan struggling to survive in their daily life.
We are much much luckier than them.
Appreciate the close friends, families, relatives that we have.
Appreciate the company that we are working with, providing all the resources that we need to carry on with life.
Appreciate and learn to appreciate more.

Many people have dreams that they wish to attain.
“I want to make $XXX a month from the internet”
“I want to write a book on XXX by 31 December 2007”
“I want this….I want that.”
Never ending…. and most of us in this planet laments “lack of time” as the most common excuse for not achieving our goals.
Let me share with you something.
Everyone be it Bill Gates, Robert Kiyosaki, Anthony Robbins have 24 hours a day.
We are all run by the same “ticking” clock.
What differentiate a successful person and not, is how we manage our time.
Right now I am going to share with you 3 strategies on how you can have more time to do what you really one.
1) Keep your place tidy
Yes…Clean up your desk. Throw away things that you dont need. Put aside all the unwanted materials . Get rid of them. If not you will feel overwhelmed.
2) Have a time table
In my field of endeavour as a financial associate, we have a success planner to manage our time. We are able to decide specifically what are we going to do for the day. This definitely reduce idling time. Our time are fully utilised. you should do the same too! 🙂
3) Get rid of msn while at work
Sometimes when we are preparing to do work, like optimizing my search engine ranking, preparing financial materials for clients, we tend to deviate to do other things like chatting with our friends in msn etc… Get rid of all these “time-consuming” activities.

When I talk to my clients, some of them say that they don’t need insurance.
To me there is only one type of people who don’t need insurance.
Who are they?
The Ultra-Rich.
Heck…Bill Gates dont need insurance.
Warren Buffet dont need insurance.
The ultra-rich have millions or billions of dollars they can afford to spent.
However majority of us need insurance.
You buy life insurance not because of the “returns” that you can get.
You buy life insurance not for yourself.
You buy life insurance because you love someone and because someone loves you.
Imagine you are the sole-breadwinner in your family, supporting your wife and kids.
Touch wood, if anything were to happen to that very sole-breadwinner, the family is gonna suffer.
If the sole-breadwinner do not have health insurance, the family is going to be drained financially for them to pay for the hospital bills.
If the sole-breadwinner were to met with death, permanent disablity or critical illness, the family will be in deep trouble if the sole breadwinner do not have any insurance with him.
Expenses still goes on and the wife may have to work.
AND…who is going to take care of the kids.
If the husband, the sole breadwinner have an insurance policies in place, and anything were to happen to him the family will be left with an estate/sum assured.
Usually few hundred thousand dollars.
The family can depend on that money to carry on with life, and will be thankful to the deceased for his extra mile of financial planning.
Friends, insurance is important!

There was a man who worked for the railroad.
One day as he went into the freezer compartment to do his routine work, the door accidentally closed and he found himself trapped in the compartment.
He shouted for help but no one heard him since it was past midnight. He tried to break down the door but he could not.
As he lay in the freezer compartment, he began to feel colder, and colder.
Then he began to feel weaker, and weaker, and he wrote on the wall of the compartment, “I am feeling colder, and colder; and I am getting weaker, and weaker.
I am dying, and this may be my last words”. In the morning when the other workers opened up the compartment they found him dead.
The sad twist to the above story is that the freezing apparatus in the compartment had broke down a few days earlier.
The poor worker did not know about the damaged freezing apparatus and in his mind the freezing apparatus was working perfectly.
He felt cold, got weaker and literally willed himself to die.
SUCCESS PRINCIPLES
Our sub-conscious mind can be cheated.
The sub-conscious mind can only accept and act on information passed to it by the conscious mind.
It has no capacity to reject or decline any instructions or information passed to it by the conscious mind.
In the case of the poor worker, he consciously thought that he was getting colder, weaker and dying and the sub-conscious mind accepted the above instructions and affected his physical body.
That was how he willed himself to die.
